PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hisashi Matsuoka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Longwei Jiang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jiang has chosen BRMC / Weapon Of Choice as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hisashi Matsuoka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Longwei Jiang!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Konstantin Menshow and Ivan Kurochkin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jiang bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Matsuoka looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Matsuoka closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Matsuoka lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Matsuoka is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Matsuoka is pushing down on Jiang's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jiang is fighting to maintain full guard but Matsuoka has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Matsuoka is really struggling to control Jiang but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Matsuoka wants to pass the guard but Jiang is defending well.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Hisashi Matsuoka just wasn't active enough.
Matsuoka shoots in looking for a takedown but Jiang manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Matsuoka's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Matsuoka.

Matsuoka needs to keep his hands up - Jiang had a free shot at his head there.

Jiang ducks under a wild hook from Matsuoka.
Matsuoka shoots for a double leg takedown but Jiang sprawls well. He's pushed Matsuoka's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jiang throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Matsuoka on the side of the head.

and Jiang counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Jiang forces Matsuoka back against the cage and clinches.
Jiang lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Matsuoka backwards.

Matsuoka changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jiang fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Jiang wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Matsuoka is breathing heavily.
Jiang scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Matsuoka doesn't seem bothered though.

Jiang shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Matsuoka eats them both and turns towards Jiang to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Jiang digs a right hand into Matsuoka's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Matsuoka's gas tank.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Matsuoka is trying to break the clinch but Jiang is controlling him.

Jiang throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Jiang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jiang lands a big uppercut and Matsuoka crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Matsuoka looks OK. Jiang waves Matsuoka back to his feet!

Matsuoka takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jiang punishes Matsuoka's body with a nice straight punch.

Jiang drops Matsuoka with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Matsuoka looks back up at him and smiles so Jiang waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Matsuoka is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Jiang scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Matsuoka doesn't seem bothered though.
Jiang connects with a superb combination that knocks Matsuoka out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Jiang before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Matsuoka!

After winning the bout, Longwei Jiang thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
