Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jag Meister!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joel Night!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Night tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Meister swivels and escapes.
Night shoots in and drives through. Meister sprawls well.
Night shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Meister as he avoids it easily.
Jag Meister has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joel Night.
Meister scores with a head kick.


It looks like Joel Night has been cut.
Night looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Meister is fending him off so far but Night persists. Nope, Meister circles away and we're back to standing.
Night shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Meister as he avoids it easily.

Meister drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Night isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Meister stacks Night on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Meister!
Night looks gassed!
Meister lands an elbow.
Meister in side control lands a decent elbow.
Meister tries to move into full mount but can't pass Night's legs.
Meister scoring with punches and elbows.

Meister has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Night tries for a takedown but Meister circles away easily

and Meister counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Meister has clasped his hands together around Night's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Meister stands up.
Meister shoots in for a takedown but Night shows good takedown defense.
Meister jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Meister looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Meister stalling.
Meister is pressing down on Night's thigh, looking to free his foot. Night is holding on for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Night wants to get back to full guard.
Meister controlling the pace.
Meister's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Meister wants to stand but Night has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Night is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Meister pulls his head out easily.
Meister is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Meister fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Meister wants to control the pace but Night is squirming around nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Night is looking to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jag Meister dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Joel Night's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Night gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Meister counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Meister.
Meister controlling from the top position.
Night manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Meister manages to get himself to full guard.
Night looking to pass the guard.
Meister wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Night is now in half guard.
Night is breathing heavily.

Meister keeping control of the position.
Meister is looking to improve his position.
Meister keeps control of the position for the meantime.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jag Meister just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Meister shoots for a double leg takedown but Night sprawls well. He's pushed Meister's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Meister tries a head kick but it misses.
Meister tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Night swivels and escapes.

and Meister counters with a straight right hand.
Meister needs to keep his hands up - Night had a free shot at his head there.
Meister thows a body shot but no joy.
Meister tries to close the distance and clinch up but Night swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Night bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Night tries to move into full mount but can't pass Meister's legs.
Jag Meister overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Night wants to control but Meister is keeping him busy.
Meister is pushing Night's head away, looking to escape. Night manages to hold on to the position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Night working away.

Night is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Meister knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Meister is looking for a sweep.
Night throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Night tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Meister walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Night checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Night fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Meister, pushing him back against the cage.

Night successfully pulls guard.
Meister content to stall in guard here.

Meister has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Night to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Meister is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Night pulls down on the head and he's put Meister to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Joel Night!
