The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meier tries to close the distance and clinch up but Skinnard swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The fight stays on the outside here - Meier looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Skinnard misses with a wild body shot.
Lenard Skinnard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Meier tried to score with a low kick but Skinnard checks it.
Meier dives in and grabs Skinnard's left leg, looking for a takedown. Skinnard pushes down on Meier's head and hops out.

Skinnard forces Meier back against the cage and clinches.
Skinnard lands a right hand.
Skinnard lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Skinnard scores with a shoulder strike.
Skinnard lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Skinnard keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Meier's efforts to push away.
Skinnard has Meier pressed against the cage, preventing Meier from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Skinnard lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Meier backwards.

Still in the clinch, Skinnard scores with a nice short uppercut.

Skinnard lands an elbow that stopped Meier in his tracks for a moment.

Meier is trying to pull guard but Skinnard turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Meier pulls guard successfully.
Meier tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Meier looks gassed!
Meier is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Lenard Skinnard wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Meier closes the distance and clinches up with Skinnard, looking for a takedown. Meier pushes Skinnard against the cage but Skinnard circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lenard Skinnard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Willy Meier.

Oooooh!!! Skinnard has knocked Meier down with a huge combo! Skinnard steps away and waves a wobbly Meier back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Skinnard lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Meier is still on wobbly legs! Can Skinnard finish him?
Lenard Skinnard is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Skinnard dances in with a quick combination. Meier is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Skinnard snaps Meier's head back. Meier stumbles backwards against the cage. Skinnard steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Meier's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Meier just didn't come prepared.
