Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
26 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gryphon Andersoon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Cathay!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andersoon drops Cathay with a nice combination! Andersoon dives into Cathay's guard, looking to finish!
It looks like Carl Cathay has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Cathay wants to stand but Andersoon is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cathay keeping moving, preventing Andersoon from controlling successfully.
Andersoon throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Cathay is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Andersoon is controlling him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Andersoon circles away from the clinch attempt
and Andersoon makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Cathay looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick misses from Andersoon.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cathay, as that shot connected.
Cathay moves to clinch but Andersoon breaks away
and Andersoon counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Andersoon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cathay tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Andersoon manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Cathay sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Andersoon throws a nice inside leg kick.
Andersoon jabs at Cathay's body.
Andersoon throws a front kick that sends Cathay stumbling back into the cage.
Andersoon scores with a hook.
Cathay needs to keep his hands up - Andersoon had a free shot at his head there.
That has opened up Carl Cathay's cut even more.
Carl Cathay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cathay walks forward, straight into a front kick from Andersoon.
Andersoon lands a big head kick that sends Cathay to the canvas! Andersoon follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gryphon Andersoon!
