PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Benson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benson's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Mobb Deep - Shook Ones. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Benson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brian Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lesnar dives in and scores a takedown into Benson's guard.

Benson pushes Lesnar off and scrambles back to his feet.
Lesnar shoots in looking for a takedown. Benson tries to sprawl out of it but Lesnar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Benson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lesnar lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Lesnar throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Benson's head.

Benson dives in and grabs Lesnar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lesnar pushes down on Benson's head and hops out.

Lesnar goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Benson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Lesnar but great work by Benson.
Benson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Lesnar some visible discomfort.
Benson is looking to take a break and control but Lesnar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lesnar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Benson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Lesnar has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well Lesnar has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
