Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Rizzo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jason Metro!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rizzo misses with a head kick.
Metro misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rizzo.
Rizzo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Metro swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Metro looks to land a combination but Rizzo avoids it well.
Rizzo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Metro.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Metro accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Metro pushes down on Rizzo's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Metro is pressing down on Rizzo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rizzo is holding on for now.
Metro has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Metro is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rizzo is just riding it out for now. Metro eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Metro lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Metro is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Metro throws a strike but Rizzo avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Rizzo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Metro has gone for a leg lock! Rizzo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Metro's guard.

Metro is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rizzo is controlling him.
Rizzo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rizzo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Metro tries to avoid it but Rizzo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Metro to the ground. Metro escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Metro jabs Rizzo to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Metro connects with a crisp jab.
Rizzo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Metro as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Rizzo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Metro sizes up Rizzo with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Metro shoots for a double leg takedown but Rizzo sprawls well. He's pushed Metro's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Rizzo's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Metro connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rizzo scrambles back to his feet.

Metro misses with a few strikes there.
Metro fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rizzo manages to avoid it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jason Metro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Metro remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well Metro has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
