Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thiang Puruhat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nomor Gai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gai comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Shera Di Kaum kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Thiang Puruhat has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thiang Puruhat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Nomor Gai!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gai shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Puruhat but Puruhat pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A big right from Gai misses.
Puruhat slips under a jab.
Gai misses with an uppercut. Puruhat saw that one coming.
Gai looks to throw the jab but Puruhat is out of range.
Gai fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Puruhat manages to avoid it.
Puruhat throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Puruhat stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Puruhat wants it to stay on the feet.
Nomor Gai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gai missing with a left hand there. Puruhat was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Gai avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gai misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Thiang Puruhat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nomor Gai.
Puruhat tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gai paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gai dives in and grabs Puruhat's left leg, looking for a takedown. Puruhat pushes down on Gai's head and hops out.
Gai uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Puruhat.
Puruhat fails with an attempt to clinch.

Puruhat swings for the body but Gai moves out of range.
Gai takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Puruhat rushes Gai and presses him up against the cage.
Puruhat tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Gai on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Gai pulls guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Puruhat slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Puruhat tries to score with some ground and pound. Gai controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Gai is trying to control Puruhat's posture but Puruhat avoids it.
Puruhat wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gai keeps working.
Puruhat postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Gai dodges the ground and pound from Puruhat.

Puruhat in side control, throwing shots but Gai defends.
Puruhat trying to control the action but Gai is working from the bottom.
Gai is trying to improve his position.
Puruhat works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Puruhat connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Gai some visible discomfort.

Gai manages to get back to half guard.

Puruhat wants to take a breather but Gai is having none of it.
Puruhat has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Puruhat is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gai is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Puruhat wants to work for an arm triangle but Gai is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Gai is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Gai tries to roll over but Puruhat keeps him under control.
Gai is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Puruhat's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Puruhat's back!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gai looking for a guillotine here but Puruhat defends easily.
Gai can't keep his opponent in guard - Puruhat advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Puruhat is looking to advance position but Gai won't allow it.
Puruhat is trying to control. Gai wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Puruhat prevents Gai from improving his position.

Puruhat is working for a submission of some sort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thiang Puruhat dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Gai on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Puruhat. Puruhat obviously looking to wear him down.
Puruhat defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gai.
Gai shoots for a double leg takedown but Puruhat sprawls well. He's pushed Gai's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gai throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Puruhat's waist but Puruhat gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gai off to one side.
Thiang Puruhat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nomor Gai.
Puruhat tries to close the distance and clinch but Gai swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Puruhat lands a head kick. Gai smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Gai shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Puruhat lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gai!

Gai keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Puruhat can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gai is looking to escape.

Puruhat has hold of Gai's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gai manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Thiang Puruhat overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Poor strikes thrown by Puruhat there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Puruhat unloads with some shots from mount but Gai bucks and avoids them well.
Puruhat takes Gai's back.

Puruhat looking to finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Gai is controlling Puruhat 's left arm and he spins nicely into guard.
Gai won't allow Puruhat to sweep him here.

Puruhat escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gai gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Puruhat is trying to control the position but Gai postures up.
Gai controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Gai wants to control from the top but Puruhat keeps moving.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
