Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michael Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marijo Palavra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shields comes to the cage accompanied by Last Resort - Papa Roach. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields stuffs the takedown.
Shields looks to throw the jab but Palavra is out of range.
Shields misses with a body shot.
Palavra fails with the takedown.
Palavra with a lazy takedown attempt
and Shields counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Michael Shields has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marijo Palavra.
Shields stuffs the takedown attempt from Palavra. Palavra gets slowly back to his feet.
Palavra uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Shields.
Palavra shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shields sprawls well. Shields wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Palavra gets slowly back to his feet.
Shields tries a head kick but it misses.
Shields leaves Palavra with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Palavra shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shields defends it nicely.

Marijo Palavra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Shields cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Shields throws a hook but Palavra blocks it.
Palavra shoots in for a takedown but Shields shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Shields throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shields lands with a nice body punch.
Palavra looks for a takedown but Shields sprawls well.
Shields stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shields wants it to stay on the feet.
Palavra looks gassed!
Shields scores with a three punch combo!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Palavra tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shields sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Palavra somewhat.

Palavra shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shields sprawls well. Shields wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Palavra gets slowly back to his feet.
Palavra changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shields tries to avoid it but Palavra manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shields to the ground. Shields escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A decent looking cross lands there for Shields.
Shields cracks Palavra with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Palavra tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Shields pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Palavra is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Shields!
