Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Jlo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mort Shula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mort Shula told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Jlo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mort Shula!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jonathan Paton and David Schapiro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jlo misses with a takedown
and Shula cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jlo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jlo shoots and misses
enabling Shula to counter with a crisp jab.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Jlo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shula rushes Jlo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Shula manages to break the clinch.
Jlo tries to bum rush Shula with a series of wild strikes but Shula uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jlo throws a series of punches but Shula avoids them all with ease.
Jlo throws a right hand that Shula ducks under and follows up with a left that Shula also avoids with ease.
Jlo falls off balance throwing a combination
and Shula connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jlo throws a left and a right that both miss

and Shula holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Shula's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

letting Shula counter with a right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jlo dives in and grabs Shula's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shula pushes down on Jlo's head and hops out.
Jlo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Shula counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Jlo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Shula holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Jlo is breathing heavily.

Shula's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jlo doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Shula counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Shula gets underhooks to prevent Jlo's takedown attempt.

Shula escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shula lands a right hook to the body.
Shula scores with a shot to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jlo doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Shula counters with a stiff right hand.
Shula lands a nice shot to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jlo ducks straight into an uppercut from Shula and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Jlo manages to regain guard straight away.

Jlo is rocked!

It looks like Joe Jlo has been cut.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Shula gets to his feet - Jlo follows without any prompting.
Oh Jlo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters circling - Shula throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Jlo misses with a takedown attempt
and Shula makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Nice defenses there by Jlo.

Shula closes the distance and clinches.

Shula pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Shula swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Jlo with a poor takedown
and Shula counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Jlo thinking.
Shula scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Shula missing with a left hand there. Jlo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A big left from Shula misses.
Jlo slips a straight right by Shula.
Jlo doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Shula counters with a massive hook, right on the button! He's out cold! Damn, that was naaaaaasty! Hopefully he'll be OK.
