Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Icaro Asas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Holden James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James has chosen Aerials as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Icaro Asas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Holden James!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asas throws a lazy right hand but James sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Asas shoots in but James avoids the takedown attempt easily.
James walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Asas moves into the clinch.
Asas drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

James breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
James throws a head kick that misses.

Asas forces James back against the cage and clinches.
Asas takes an elbow to the forehead.
James lands an elbow that stopped Asas in his tracks for a moment.
James is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

James breaks the clinch.
Asas has his takedown stuffed
and James counters with a solid body kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Icaro Asas. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Asas lands a jab to the head.

James gets tackled into the cage by Asas. Asas maintains the clinch.
Asas swings away with an uppercut that misses.
James stalls.
Asas tries to work over James's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Asas pushes James back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Asas tries for a takedown but James manages to get underhooks.
A right hook to the body lands for James.
James lands an elbow inside.
Asas takes an elbow to the forehead.
Asas being controlled against the cage.

James breaks from the clinch.

James tries to keep at a distance but Asas has taken the fight into the clinch.
Asas takes an elbow to the temple.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
James lands an elbow that stopped Asas in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Icaro Asas has been cut.

James manages to break the clinch.
A thudding body kick lands there by James!
Asas is breathing heavily.
James scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
James keeps Asas at a distance using the push kick.
A head kick misses from James.

James clinches with his opponent.
James is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
James lands an uppercut.

James escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
James throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

James closes the distance and clinches.
James prevents a takedown attempt there.
James tries to land knees in the clinch but Asas avoids the damage to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James blocks a punch to the side of the head.
James lands a shoulder strike.
Asas misses with some punches.

James's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Asas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around James's waist but James gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Asas off to one side.
James looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Asas blocks a head kick by James.
James throws out a powerful jab.
Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! James throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Asas is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Holden James!
A very excited looking Holden James rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
