PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zak Houk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Houk has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Shields fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Houk sprawls well initially but Shields persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Houk is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Shields scores with a couple of nice shots.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Houk enables Shields to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Houk manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Houk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shields. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Shields decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Houk, up you get!

Shields shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Houk manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Shields lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
