Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Frenz Cabunagan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Hurst (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cabunagan's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Face the Pain. Patrick Hurst acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Frenz Cabunagan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Hurst!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cabunagan shoots in and gets a takedown into Hurst's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Hurst has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Cabunagan is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hurst.
Cabunagan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Hurst is trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cabunagan decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Hurst darts in trying to clinch

and Cabunagan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hurst's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hurst looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cabunagan is one step ahead there.
Cabunagan won't allow Hurst to get back to his feet.

Hurst trying to control the position.
Cabunagan trying to control the position from guard on top but Hurst is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cabunagan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ryan Frenz Cabunagan just wasn't active enough.

Cabunagan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Hurst is looking to improve his position but Cabunagan isn't that keen on the idea.

Hurst is in a horrible position here. Cabunagan smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hurst is working to get back to half guard.
Cabunagan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hurst is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hurst is in a horrible position here. Cabunagan smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Cabunagan has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hurst's face.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cabunagan manages to capitalize on a mistake by Hurst to take his back!
Hurst can't escape the position.
Hurst breaks Cabunagan's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Cabunagan pushes Hurst off and scrambles back to his feet.
Cabunagan plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


Hurst is rocked!

Cabunagan dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Hurst has had enough and taps out.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Ryan Frenz Cabunagan!
A pretty intense looking Ryan Frenz Cabunagan took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
