PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Bauer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arto Byyri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Arto Byyri was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Arto Byyri!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bauer swings for the body but Byyri moves out of range.
Bauer slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Bauer lands a nice looking body shot.
Byyri misses with a series of wild punches.
Bauer ducks under a wild hook from Byyri.
Byyri throws a shot from downtown. Bauer moves away and avoids it.
Sloppy strikes from Byyri. Those never looked like landing.

Bauer has closed the distance and engaged Byyri in a clinch.
Bauer lands with a short shot to the head.

Bauer is trying to trip Byyri. He has hold of a leg but Byyri is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bauer persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Bauer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Byyri not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Bauer forces his way into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bauer prevents Byyri from improving his position.
Bauer wants to pass to mount but Byyri is defending the position.

Bauer seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Bauer is nestled in close to Byyri, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Byyri seems a little lost for a moment, as Bauer dominates the positioning.
Bauer seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Byyri for as long as he can get away with.
Byyri is not content to let Bauer control the position.

Jack Bauer has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Bauer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Byyri is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Bauer.
Bauer moves away from the strike by Byyri.
A big right from Byyri misses.
Bauer slips a straight right by Byyri.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bauer. Byyri does a little dance to reset his feet.

Bauer shoots for a takedown but Byyri saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Byyri looks to land a right hand but Bauer moved out of range.
Byyri takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Byyri misses with a straight left.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bauer.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Bauer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Byyri drops his hands momentarily and Bauer takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Byyri tries to bum rush Bauer with a series of wild strikes but Bauer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Bauer moves into the clinch.
Byyri is trying to break free.
A left hand lands to the body for Bauer.
Bauer throws a knee to the head but misses.
Bauer content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Bauer lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Bauer is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Byyri can't fight it off and eventually Bauer manages to take the fight to the floor. Byyri looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bauer scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Bauer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice straight punches there by Bauer. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Bauer.
Bauer fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A combination from Byyri does no damage.
Bauer swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Byyri.
Bauer misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bauer moves out of range of the strikes.
Bauer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Byyri on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Byyri throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bauer slips a jab from Byyri.
Byyri misses with a hook. Bauer ducked under it nicely.
Byyri loads up on a big right hand but Bauer slips the punch.
Byyri might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Byyri misses with a wild combination.

Bauer lands a left and a right that send Byyri crashing to the mat, dazed. Bauer thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Byyri is rocked!

It looks like Arto Byyri has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bauer lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Byyri up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Bauer from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Byyri's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
