Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nycky Downtime (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin comes to the cage accompanied by The Claw. Downtime has chosen Bring It as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nycky Downtime!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downtime scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Downtime lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Griffin circles away quickly and effectively.

Griffin rushes Downtime and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Downtime wants to take the fight to the mat but Griffin manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Griffin throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Griffin cracks Downtime with a nice body shot.
Griffin throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Downtime blocks it with crossed arms.
Griffin lands an elbow that stopped Downtime in his tracks for a moment.
A left hand lands to the body for Griffin.
Downtime misses with a hook to the ribs.
Griffin scores with a shot to the side of Downtime's head.

Downtime jumps into guard, dragging Griffin to the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Downtime can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Griffin controls the pace.
Griffin wants to get up but he can't break Downtime's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Griffin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Downtime on the ground.

Downtime is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Downtime is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Griffin defends well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Griffin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Griffin wants to stand but Downtime has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Griffin stands and steps away. Downtime gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Downtime throws a lazy uppercut
and Griffin makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Downtime really felt that one!

Griffin forces Downtime back against the cage and clinches.
Downtime goes for a takedown in the clinch but Griffin prevents it.
Downtime tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Griffin slowing the pace effectively.
Downtime is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Griffin is defending well for now.
Griffin lands a body punch in the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Griffin comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Downtime's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Downtime ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Griffin scores with a jab.

Downtime tries to keep at a distance but Griffin has taken the fight into the clinch.
Downtime taking a breather.
Griffin misses with an elbow over the top.
Griffin misses with a knee to the head.
A shot in the inside from Griffin.
Downtime can't get the takedown.
Jason Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nycky Downtime.

Griffin misses with a knee strike.
Griffin lands an elbow inside.
Griffin misses with a knee to the head.
Griffin tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Griffin misses with a knee to the head.
Griffin lands with a left to the head.
Downtime can't break the clinch.
Griffin is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Griffin lands a knee to the body.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Griffin.
Griffin tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Griffin stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Downtime takes a knee right on the jaw!

Griffin stalls.
Griffin lands an elbow inside that Downtime shrugs off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Downtime looking for a takedown.
Griffin prevents the takedown attempt.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Downtime takes a knee to the side of the body.
Griffin lands with a short punch from the clinch.


Downtime is rocked!
Griffin misses with a knee strike.
Downtime is still on wobbly legs! Can Griffin finish him?
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A short left from Griffin.
Griffin stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
A right hook to the body lands for Griffin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Griffin dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Downtime has a takedown stuffed.
Downtime seems to have recovered his senses.
Downtime swings widly with a right hand
and Griffin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Downtime shoots in for a takedown but Griffin shows good takedown defense.
Downtime drops his hands momentarily and Griffin needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Downtime just on the top of the head. Downtime drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Downtime - he's done!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jason Griffin!
