PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kazuhiro Yamada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yamada comes to the cage accompanied by The Raising Fighting Spirit. Jack Johnson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Kazuhiro Yamada's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazuhiro Yamada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamada fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Yamada lands with a nice combination. Johnson backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Jack Johnson has been cut.
Johnson shoots in for a double leg but Yamada sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses.
Yamada swings for the body but Johnson moves out of range.
Yamada just misses with a punch to the body.
Yamada thows a body shot but no joy.
Johnson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Yamada manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Johnson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Yamada scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johnson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Yamada knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnson on the ground.

Johnson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Yamada doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Johnson.

Yamada tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control.
The fighters are battling for position here. Yamada manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Yamada has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Yamada throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Johnson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Yamada is trying to break the clinch but Johnson is controlling him.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Johnson takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Johnson tries to keep at a distance but Yamada has taken the fight into the clinch.

and Johnson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Yamada avoids the head kick by Johnson.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Yamada throws a hook but Johnson avoids it easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Yamada is trying to control Johnson's posture but Johnson avoids it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johnson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Johnson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
