Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Cowell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adrian Blanchard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Blanchard's choice of entrance music: "Bull's on Parade" by Rage Against the Machine. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Cowell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Adrian Blanchard!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cowell throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Blanchard tries to clinch but Cowell is having none of it.
Cowell fails with a takedown attempt.
Blanchard misses with a head kick.
Cowell misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Cowell fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Cowell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cowell shoots in but no luck this time.
Horrible takedown by Cowell or perhaps it was just good defense by Blanchard which made him look bad.
Blanchard drops Cowell with a nice combination! Blanchard dives into Cowell's guard, looking to finish!


It looks like Anderson Cowell has been cut.
Blanchard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cowell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Blanchard trying to control the position from guard on top but Cowell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Blanchard wants to pass the guard but Cowell is keeping the position.
Blanchard wants to get up but he can't break Cowell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Blanchard takes the fight into the clinch.
Blanchard throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Cowell blocks it with crossed arms.
Blanchard misses with an elbow strike.
Cowell is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Blanchard is keeping busy.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cowell tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Blanchard smiles and moves away.
Blanchard keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Cowell shoots in and drives through. Blanchard sprawls well.
Cowell is breathing heavily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cowell.

Cowell closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cowell lands in his opponent's guard.
Cowell won't allow Blanchard to get back to his feet.
Blanchard is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cowell prevents Blanchard from getting back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Blanchard is looking to stand up but Cowell isn't so interested in that idea.

Blanchard isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cowell stacks Blanchard on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cowell!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cowell tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Cowell advances to mount.
Blanchard is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Cowell lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Cowell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Blanchard's waist but Blanchard gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cowell off to one side.
Cowell shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Blanchard as he avoids it easily.
Anderson Cowell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cowell fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Blanchard misses with a double jab

and Cowell counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Blanchard's guard now.
Cowell is looking to work some ground and pound but Blanchard has wrist control.

Blanchard working for submissions but it's allowed Cowell to get to half guard.
Blanchard looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Blanchard is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Cowell passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Blanchard!

Cowell wants to control the pace but Blanchard is squirming around nicely.
Blanchard tries to lock up and control but Cowell gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Blanchard is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Cowell has taken his back!
Blanchard tries to roll but Cowell sticks to his back.
Blanchard is trying to stand back up.
Cowell is riding his opponent, not letting Blanchard buck him off.

Blanchard manages to reverse the position and now he's in Cowell's guard. Nice work there by Blanchard.

Cowell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blanchard gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Blanchard wants to stand but Cowell has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Cowell is trying to keep Blanchard in close.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Blanchard gets to his feet - Cowell follows without any prompting.
Cowell shoots in but no luck this time.
Blanchard throws a head kick that Cowell semi-blocks.

Cowell shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Cowell was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Cowell looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Blanchard wants to control but Cowell is having none of it.
Blanchard keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cowell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Blanchard's guard.
Blanchard pulls Cowell in close to prevent any damage.
Cowell controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Blanchard wants to sweep here but Cowell controlling him for the moment.

Cowell tries to free his leg and advance position but Blanchard is retaining full guard.

Cowell slips nicely into half guard.
Cowell is keen to just control but Blanchard is a slippery customer.
Cowell uses his free foot to push down on Blanchard's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Blanchard.
Cowell manages to capitalize on a mistake by Blanchard to take his back!
Blanchard is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Anderson Cowell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Cowell slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cowell gets his hands free as Blanchard looks to control.
Blanchard looking very determined here, making life difficult for Cowell.
Blanchard trying to control the hands but Cowell breaks the grip.
Blanchard is trying to get back to his feet but Cowell has full control of the position and if anything, Blanchard has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Blanchard wants to escape the position.
Blanchard turns into Cowell and is now in his guard.

Cowell is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Cowell's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Cowell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Blanchard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
