The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Nix lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Griffin throws a head kick that misses.
Griffin wants to clinch

and Nix counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Griffin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Nix fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown but Nix shows good takedown defense.
Griffin shoots in looking for a takedown. Nix tries to sprawl out of it but Griffin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nix manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abdullah Griffin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nix scores with a one two! Griffin had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nix rushes Griffin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Nix lands a shoulder strike.
Nix is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Nix lands a nice shot to the body.
Griffin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Nix pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nix lands a nice hook to Griffin's body. Griffin takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Griffin is breathing heavily.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown but Nix shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Nix fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nix throws a shot to the body.
Griffin gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Nix.

Oooooh!!! Nix has knocked Griffin down with a huge combo! Nix steps away and waves a wobbly Griffin back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Griffin is rocked!
