The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poppy wants to clinch up but Manitoba keeps it at a distance.

Manitoba forces Poppy back against the cage and clinches.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Manitoba is looking to take this one to the mat.
Manitoba is trying to drag Poppy to the mat but Poppy just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Manitoba drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Winnipeg Manitoba. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Manitoba prevents a body shot from Poppy.
Poppy trying to stall but Manitoba improves his position.
Poppy doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Poppy lands with a short shot to the head.
Poppy lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Manitoba.
Manitoba drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Manitoba swings wildly with an uppercut but Poppy uses good head movement to avoid it.

Manitoba has Poppy pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Poppy manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Poppy lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Manitoba backwards.
Manitoba prevents Poppy from breaking the clinch.
Poppy lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Manitoba drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Poppy misses with a punch to the body.
The referee calls for Poppy to work.
Poppy misses with a body punch.

Manitoba turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Poppy wants to control but Manitoba postures up.
Manitoba tries to move to mount but Poppy blocks the move with his legs.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Poppy is trying to control Manitoba's posture but Manitoba avoids it.

Manitoba working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Manitoba has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Manitoba sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Manitoba goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Poppy is on top in guard.
Manitoba pulls Poppy in close to prevent any damage.

Manitoba looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Poppy postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Poppy is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Manitoba has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Poppy is looking to defend but Manitoba has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Poppy! Manitoba pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Poppy taps out and this one is all over!
