The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Boubeez enables Cross to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Boubeez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Boubeez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Cross wants to get up but he can't break Boubeez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Boubeez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cross doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cross manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boubeez works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Boubeez lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Boubeez stalks Cross and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cross's face. Cross staggers backwards, shaken.
Nice defenses there by Cross.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cross throws a quick inside leg kick.
Cross will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A combination from Boubeez does no damage.
Cross feints a jab promting Boubeez to slip. Cross then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Boubeez slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Boubeez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cross circles away quickly and effectively.

Cross closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Boubeez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cross thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Boubeez's head.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cross throws an overhand right that lands on Boubeez's shoulder, as Boubeez tries to avoid the shot.
Boubeez looks to land a combination but Cross avoids it well.

Cross fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Boubeez sprawls well initially but Cross persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Cross is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Boubeez moves into full guard.
Boubeez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Boubeez avoids the attempt from Cross to control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Boubeez with shots to the head and body - Cross looks very uncomfortable down there.
Boubeez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cross looks a forlorn figure.
Cross is squirming around, avoiding Boubeez's attempts to control the action.

A close round but Iliek Boubeez will probably get the nod.
That's time! Cross's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Cross scores with a sloppy right hand. Boubeez should have avoided that one.

Boubeez is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cross has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Tone Cross wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Boubeez shoots in and drives through. Cross sprawls well.

Boubeez thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Cross if he has to take too many more of those.

Cross is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Boubeez frees his head nicely. Oh but Cross has switched to an armbar! Boubeez is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
