Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Phrisbee OReiley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joaquin Shodo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). OReiley's entrance music is Shoot To Thrill. A fine choice. Joaquin Shodo will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joaquin Shodo!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Chad Campbell and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
OReiley misses with a double jab.
Joaquin Shodo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
OReiley throws a low kick but it's checked well by Shodo.
OReiley fails to land with a series of punches.
OReiley shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shodo but Shodo pushes him off and we're back to square one.
OReiley throws a head kick but Shodo moves out of range.
OReiley scores with a three punch combo!
OReiley tries to land a front kick but Shodo steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
OReiley looks to land a body kick but Shodo moved away.
OReiley throws a push kick but Shodo slaps the foot to one side.

OReiley stuffs the takedown attempt from Shodo. Shodo gets slowly back to his feet.
Shodo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Shodo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? OReiley is fending him off so far but Shodo persists. Nope, OReiley circles away and we're back to standing.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

OReiley postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shodo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of OReiley, into his guard.

Shodo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shodo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

OReiley looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

OReiley is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shodo is aware though and is defending well.

Shodo has gone for a leg lock! OReiley slips out almost immediately though and dives into Shodo's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OReiley drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shodo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now OReiley has Shodo in his guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

OReiley shoots for a double leg takedown but Shodo sprawls well. He's pushed OReiley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
OReiley scores with a sloppy right hand. Shodo should have avoided that one.

Shodo's hands are dropping dangerously low here and OReiley connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Shodo scrambles back to his feet.
OReiley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Shodo looking to score a takedown here. OReiley is defending well but Shodo drives through and ends up in OReiley's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

OReiley is standing up over Shodo. Shodo looks to escape but OReiley dives into side control.

OReiley wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shodo, who protects the arm well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
OReiley wants to take a breather but Shodo manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for OReiley.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Phrisbee OReiley will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
