PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tad Unhinged (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Hains (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jason Hains will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tad Unhinged!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Hains!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Unhinged.
Unhinged sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Hains lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Unhinged fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hains avoids it really well and circles away.
Unhinged avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hains throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Nice takedown defense from Hains. No joy for Unhinged on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tad Unhinged. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hains bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Unhinged's head backwards.
Hains throws a series of punches but Unhinged moves out of range.
Hains scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Hains connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Hains throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Hains pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Unhinged back to the cage. Hains follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hains gets caught flat footed, as Unhinged shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Hains is adopting a defensive guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Unhinged engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Unhinged is pushing down on Hains's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hains is fighting to maintain full guard but Unhinged has managed to sneak the leg through.

Unhinged escapes and gets back to his feet.
Unhinged will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Unhinged fails to land the takedown.
Unhinged takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Hains rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Unhinged moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hains lands a high kick!
Unhinged moves out of range of the body kick from Hains.
No luck for Unhinged with that takedown attempt.
Hains misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hains misses with a head kick.
Hains feints and then cracks Unhinged's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Unhinged down.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Unhinged dives in and grabs Hains's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hains pushes down on Unhinged's head and hops out.
Unhinged shoots in looking for a takedown. Hains tries to sprawl out of it but Unhinged keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hains manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Unhinged dives in and grabs Hains's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hains pushes down on Unhinged's head and hops out.
Unhinged is breathing heavily.
Unhinged takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Hains stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hains wants it to stay on the feet.
Hains fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Unhinged.
Hains tries a head kick but it misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Unhinged throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hains's waist but Hains gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Unhinged off to one side.
Unhinged walks forward, straight into a front kick from Hains.
Unhinged has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hains finds it's way round the side to connect with Unhinged's head.
A thudding body kick lands there by Hains!
Jason Hains seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hains lands with a kick to the temple. Unhinged shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Hains throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hains lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Hains fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Unhinged checks it well.
Jason Hains is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Unhinged takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hains scores with a spinning back kick!

Unhinged closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hains prevents the takedown attempt.
Hains wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hains tries to break the clinch but Unhinged is controlling the position.
Hains is trying to break the clinch but Unhinged is controlling him.
Hains working hard to break the clinch.

Unhinged is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hains can't fight it off and eventually Unhinged manages to take the fight to the floor. Hains looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hains keeping moving, preventing Unhinged from controlling successfully.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hains wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Hains dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Unhinged avoids the body shot from Hains.
Horrible takedown by Unhinged or perhaps it was just good defense by Hains which made him look bad.
Unhinged takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Hains throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A chopping leg kick lands by Hains.

Unhinged takes the fight into the clinch.

Unhinged jumps into guard, dragging Hains to the mat.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Unhinged escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hains gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hains decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Hains throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Unhinged.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hains fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hains throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hains throws a half hearted mid kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Hains.
Tad Unhinged is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hains buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Hains lands a glancing blow to the side of Unhinged's head.

Unhinged gets the takedown into side control.
Hains is breathing heavily.
Unhinged lands a nice forearm strike.
Hains wants to get back to his feet.
Unhinged scoring with punches and elbows.
Hains is looking to reverse the position.

Unhinged decides to stand back up. Unhinged steps back and let's Hains get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hains throws a leg kick

and Unhinged counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hains's guard now.
Unhinged trying to control the position from guard on top but Hains is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hains being controlled here, momentarily.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Tad Unhinged just wasn't active enough.
Hains jabbing away but nothing is landing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hains misses with a low kick.

Unhinged changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hains looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Unhinged working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Hains tries to improve position but can't.

Unhinged tries for a kimura but Hains is defending well.
Hains struggling a bit here.

Unhinged has hold of Hains's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Hains seems comfortable defending it but Unhinged has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Hains is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Hains is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Unhinged couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tad Unhinged!
A very excited looking Tad Unhinged made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
