Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Koa Polunu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sick Puppy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sick Puppy is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puppy throws a jab but it's blocked by Polunu.
Puppy slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Puppy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Puppy bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Polunu's head backwards.

Puppy takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Puppy shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Puppy has picked Polunu up - he's going for a ride! Puppy dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Polunu is looking for a sweep. Puppy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Polunu is doing well to control the position and prevent Puppy from advancing to side control.
Puppy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Puppy is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Puppy connects with a nice short shot to Polunu's temple.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Puppy wants to take a breather but Polunu is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Puppy is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

That was a close round but I would say that Koa Polunu will probably get the nod.

Polunu has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Polunu there as he acknowledges the shot.
Polunu leaves Puppy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Puppy takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Puppy might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
