Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rickson Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jamie Hunter!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rickson Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Gracie as he connects with a hook.
Hunter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gracie has his takedown stuffed

and Hunter counters with a single leg into guard. Gracie didn't expect that.
Hunter passes Gracie's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Hunter is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hunter is pressing down on Gracie's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gracie is holding on for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hunter tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gracie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Rickson Gracie.

Hunter goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Gracie turns into him and now he's in Hunter's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close round but Rickson Gracie will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Gracie dives in and scores a takedown into Hunter's guard.
Gracie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Hunter had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gracie defends it easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hunter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hunter drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gracie looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gracie looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gracie!
Gracie content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Horrible takedown by Hunter or perhaps it was just good defense by Gracie which made him look bad.

Gracie closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hunter's guard.

Hunter is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gracie is aware though and is defending well.

Hunter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gracie is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Hunter frees his head nicely. Oh but Gracie has switched to an armbar! Hunter is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
