Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Raje Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Schwetty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raje Malapitan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pete Schwetty!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malapitan avoids a kick to the body.
Malapitan stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Schwetty.
Schwetty throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Malapitan feints and as Schwetty raises his hands in defense, Malapitan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Malapitan advances position into side control!

Malapitan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Malapitan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Schwetty really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Malapitan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Schwetty closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Malapitan is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Schwetty gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Malapitan tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Schwetty is pressed up against the cage. Malapitan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Schwetty down to the mat. Schwetty avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Malapitan takes one on the chin but seems OK.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Raje Malapitan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Malapitan takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Schwetty tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Malapitan is able to avoid easily.

Malapitan has hold of one of Schwetty's legs. Schwetty is fighting the takedown attempt but Malapitan gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Malapitan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Schwetty is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Malapitan, into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Malapitan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Malapitan shoots in looking for a takedown but Schwetty manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Malapitan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Schwetty looks to score with a jab to the body but Malapitan is just out of range.
Malapitan moves away from the strike by Schwetty.
Schwetty walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Malapitan checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Malapitan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Schwetty.
Malapitan slips a jab and a cross from Schwetty.
Schwetty moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Malapitan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Malapitan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Schwetty's head.

Malapitan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Schwetty defends it well.

Malapitan drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Schwetty manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Malapitan has Schwetty in his guard.
