PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wanista Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Romero comes to the cage accompanied by Kamikaze Kush- Very Next Day. Jones has chosen Welcome to the Terrordome as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Rocky Jones enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wanista Romero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rocky Jones!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero connects with a crisp jab.


It looks like Rocky Jones has been cut.
Romero misses with a low kick as Jones jumps back.
Romero scores with a hook to the body. Jones takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Romero tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Romero prevents a body shot from Jones.

Jones gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Jones decides to stand and escape the position.
Romero misses with a wild combination.
A jab from Romero does it's job there.

Jones moves into the clinch.
Romero has a couple of punches blocked by Jones.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Romero creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Jones has picked Romero up - he's going for a ride! Jones dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Romero is looking to control Jones's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Romero avoid being mounted?

That's one minute gone in the round.

Jones seems to be working for a kimura but Romero defends the submission attempt.

Jones is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Romero sees it coming and defends easily.
Romero tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Jones trying to control from half guard but Romero is working away.
Romero trying to hold on to Jones's head to control him but Jones postures up.
Romero is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Romero is not content to let Jones control the position.
Romero tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Jones working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Jones takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jones connects with a nice short shot to Romero's temple.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jones seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Romero wants to get back to full guard.

Jones is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Romero doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jones.

Jones is working for a kimura but Romero is defending it quite comfortably.
Jones tries to pass to full mount but Romero defends it.
Jones works his way into full mount!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Romero taking shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rocky Jones will probably get the nod.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


The fighters circling - Romero throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Jones shoots for a takedown but Romero saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Romero is defended easily by Jones.
Romero keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Good exchange - Jones coming out on top.
The crowd cheers as Romero lands an impressive looking overhand right. Jones doesn't seem phased though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Romero's guard.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Romero keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Romero trying to keep a closed guard but Jones is proving a slippery customer.

Romero is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Jones gets to his feet - Romero follows without any prompting.
Romero defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jones.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Wanista Romero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rocky Jones.

Romero misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Jones takes the fight into the clinch.
Jones misses with a punch to the body.
Romero tries to work over Jones's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Romero circles away quickly and effectively.

Jones closes the distance and pushes Romero back into the cage.

Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Romero throws a one two combo.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jones shoots in and drives through. Romero sprawls well.
Romero throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease.

Romero cracks Jones with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Jones looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Romero finish him?


Jones is rocked!

Romero forces Jones back against the cage and clinches.
Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can Romero finish him?

Jones manages to break the clinch.
Romero cracks Jones with a brutal left hook that knocks him out cold! This one is over in a flash! Game over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Wanista Romero!
Wanista Romero really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that ANABOLIC **160** and LAUNDRY 95% logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
