The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lao bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Helix drops his hands momentarily and Lao takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Helix thumps Lao with a low kick.
Lao connects with a nice looking jab.
Lao is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Helix.
Helix gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Lao.
Lao comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Helix takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

and Helix counters with an outside leg kick.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Helix cracks Lao with an open hand slap.
Kung Lao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lao thows a body shot but no joy.
Helix misses with a looping right.
Kung Lao is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Lao lands a nice leg kick that just misses Helix's sensitive parts.

Lao scores with a nice body kick.
Helix shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lao is trying to defend but Helix finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Lao has hold of Helix's hands but Helix slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Helix connects with a nice short shot to Lao's temple.

Helix has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Lao wants to improve his position but Helix is controlling well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Helix seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Lao is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
