Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anderson Soupga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, William Hagles!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Valeri Chadov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hagles shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Soupga pinned against the cage. Soupga gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hagles tries for a takedown but Soupga sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hagles moves to clinch but Soupga breaks away
and Soupga counters with a series of strikes. Hagles will be more careful next time no doubt.
No luck for Soupga with that takedown attempt.
Hagles explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Hagles scores with a takedown into Soupga's guard.

Soupga working for a triangle but Hagles defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Soupga working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hagles doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hagles manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref stands the fighters back up. William Hagles was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Hagles dives in and grabs Soupga's left leg, looking for a takedown. Soupga pushes down on Hagles's head and hops out.

Soupga shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hagles as he avoids it easily.
Soupga shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hagles defends it nicely.
Soupga shoots in looking for a takedown. Hagles tries to sprawl out of it but Soupga keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hagles manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hagles throws out a leg kick but Soupga moves out of range and Hagles only half commits.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Soupga closes the distance and clinches up with Hagles, looking for a takedown. Soupga pushes Hagles against the cage but Hagles circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Soupga shoots in and drives through. Hagles sprawls well.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Hagles shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hagles was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Soupga wants to control but Hagles is having none of it.
Hagles thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Soupga keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hagles wants to control the pace but Soupga is squirming around nicely.

Hagles throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Soupga to regain full guard.

Soupga has his feet on Hagles's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Hagles is breathing heavily.
Soupga defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hagles.
Soupga shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Soupga. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hagles throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Soupga counters with a head kick.

Soupga's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Soupga throws a right hand that Hagles ducks under and follows up with a left that Hagles also avoids with ease.

Horrible takedown by Soupga or perhaps it was just good defense by Hagles which made him look bad.
Soupga lands with a kick to the temple. Hagles shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Hagles shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Hagles looking to sit in guard and control but Soupga gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Soupga pushes down on Hagles's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hagles wants to control but Soupga is keeping busy.
Soupga is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hagles!

Soupga throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Hagles because Soupga loaded up on that one.
Anderson Soupga overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Soupga is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Hagles misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hagles displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Soupga.

Soupga is concentrating on defense, preventing Hagles from advancing position.
Hagles takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Soupga bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hagles's guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Soupga in particular looking to stall.
Hagles is looking to get back to full guard here but Soupga has managed to pass to side control instead.

The referee asks Soupga politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Soupga prefers to stall for the moment though.

Soupga decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hagles to his feet.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Soupga holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soupga lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hagles!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Soupga throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
