The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tavares gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

laTrain gets to his feet - Tavares follows without any prompting.

laTrain clinches up with Tavares and pushes him back against the cage.

laTrain wants the takedown. Tavares is fighting it off but laTrain persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Tavares's guard against the cage.
laTrain makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Tavares wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and laTrain manages to pass to side control.
laTrain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
