Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Sykov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes to the cage accompanied by Big and Red by EC. Vladimir Sykov will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sykov enables Smith to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sykov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Sykov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sykov regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Smith.

Smith drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sykov dives on top into guard.
Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Smith pulls Sykov in close to his closed guard and prevents Sykov from doing any damage or advancing position.

Smith is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Sykov frees his head nicely. Oh but Smith has switched to an armbar! Sykov is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
