The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Key shoots for a double leg takedown but Salek sprawls well. He's pushed Key's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Key fails with the takedown.
Key tries for a takedown but Salek sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Timothy Key. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Salek pushes Key up against the ropes in a clinch.
Key is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Salek pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Key goes for a takedown attempt but Salek pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Salek moves into range and clinches up with Key.
Key is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Salek gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Key fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Key is breathing heavily.
Key tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Salek clinches.

Salek escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice takedown defense from Salek. No joy for Key on that attempt.

Key is desperately trying to improve his position but Salek has a good base and remains in mount.
Key is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Salek really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Key. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Salek is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Key is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Key manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Salek avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Key had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Salek is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Key Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Salek's back instead.

Key is persistently looking for the submission but Salek is defending it well.

Key is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Salek defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
