Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Manson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan De Pury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan De Pury has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charlie Manson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan De Pury!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De Pury clinches up against the cage.
Manson wants to get back to striking at distance but De Pury won't allow it.

Manson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Manson manages to end up in side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if De Pury can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
De Pury is trying to work for a sweep but Manson has mounted him!
Manson wants to stand but De Pury is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
De Pury tries to lock up and control but Manson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
De Pury is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
De Pury wants to hold on but Manson pushes him away.
De Pury is working to get back to half guard.

De Pury slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
De Pury keeps control of the position for the meantime.
De Pury tries to roll over but Manson keeps him under control.

De Pury makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Manson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but De Pury moves away.
De Pury tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Manson misses with a series of wild punches.

De Pury fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Manson sprawls well initially but De Pury persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
De Pury is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Manson is trying to stand up here but De Pury is controlling him well.

De Pury decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
De Pury throws a series of punches but Manson avoids them all with ease.
Manson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Manson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Manson.
Manson throws a combination that misses
and De Pury counters with a head kick. That will keep Manson thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
De Pury wants to clinch.

De Pury shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
De Pury trying to control the pace.

De Pury passes to side control.
De Pury lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
De Pury working the ground and pound.

De Pury tries for a kimura but Manson is defending well.
Manson tries to strike but it doesn't land.

De Pury is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Manson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
De Pury just content to control the position.

Manson stops De Pury from passing to mount.
De Pury slows the pace down.
Manson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
De Pury has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Manson!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Manson is wriggling around trying to escape.
De Pury content just to control the position here.
De Pury cracks Manson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan De Pury dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Manson misses with a hook. De Pury ducked under it nicely.
Manson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but De Pury circles away quickly and effectively.
Manson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Manson looks to land a left hand but De Pury moved out of range nicely.
De Pury shoots in and drives through. Manson sprawls well.
De Pury lands with a kick to the temple. Manson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Manson leaves De Pury with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Manson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
No joy there for Manson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

De Pury looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

De Pury drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Manson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now De Pury has Manson in his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Manson trying to stand up but can't free himself from De Pury's guard.
De Pury looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Let's hope that De Pury has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Manson wants to stand and escape but instead De Pury has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
De Pury looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

De Pury trying to control the position from guard on top but Manson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ryan De Pury has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
De Pury throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Manson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

De Pury scores a takedown into full mount!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Manson swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
De Pury postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Manson looks a forlorn figure.

De Pury lands a heavy elbow.
Manson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
De Pury takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

De Pury working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
De Pury sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
De Pury lands a nice shot to the head.

Ryan De Pury showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



De Pury drives through with a takedown into Manson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

De Pury postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Manson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of De Pury, into his guard.

Manson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

De Pury has a closed guard, preventing Manson from standing up.

De Pury has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Manson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Manson looks to throw the jab but De Pury is out of range.

Manson tries to sprawl but De Pury drives through with a takedown into half guard.
De Pury is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Manson trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but De Pury manages to pass to mount!

Manson tries to improve his position but instead De Pury has taken his back!
De Pury controls the position.
Manson tries to break free.
Manson tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
De Pury tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Manson is wriggling around trying to escape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Manson wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
De Pury lands shots from the back.

De Pury has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Manson is in real trouble here. De Pury gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Manson is tapping out! De Pury wins by rear naked choke!
