Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott Gibson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jasper Jones!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibson misses with a two punch combination.
A jab from Gibson misses.
Gibson shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gibson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jones circles away from the clinch attempt
and Jones counters with a nice low kick that buckles Gibson's knee momentarily.
Gibson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Gibson persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Gibson misses with a two punch combination.
Scott Gibson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones pivots, looking for a leg kick but Gibson is out of range and Jones settles back down.
Gibson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Jones eats them both and turns towards Gibson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Jones smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


It looks like Scott Gibson has been cut.
Gibson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Scott Gibson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gibson shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gibson tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range.
Jones scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Gibson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gibson moves away.

Jones tries a body shot but Gibson blocks it.
Jones throws a punch but it's blocked by Gibson.
The referee is keeping an eye on Jones - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Gibson is looking to take this one to the mat.

A frustrated look appears on Gibson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Gibson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jones gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Jones can't find room to land a body shot as Gibson controls the action.

Jones lands a right hand.
Gibson jumps guard but Jones turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Gibson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Jones clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
You can see the frustration on Jones's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones wants to control his opponent's hands but Gibson gets his hands free.
Jones is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Gibson is staying active.

Gibson is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jones knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jones for a finish.
Jones manages to reverse the position and now he's in Gibson's guard. Nice work there by Jones.

Gibson controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Gibson is retaining full guard.
Jones controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Jones is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jasper Jones was stalling too much, according to the referee.
A jab from Jones finds it's way through Gibson's defenses.
Gibson tries to clinch
and Jones counters with a stiff right hand.
Gibson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gibson off to one side.

Gibson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jones, pushing him back against the cage.

Gibson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gibson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Gibson wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.

Jones sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gibson's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gibson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Gibson wants to sweep but no luck.
Jones is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Scott Gibson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Jones looks to throw the jab but Gibson is out of range.

Gibson looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Gibson fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Jones is out of range.
Horrible takedown by Gibson or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones which made him look bad.
Gibson keeps the fight on the outside.
Some bone on bone action there as Gibson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gibson avoids the head kick by Jones.
Jones stuffs the takedown.
Jones feints and then cracks Gibson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gibson down.
Gibson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jones defends it nicely.
Gibson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jones as he avoids it easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jones throws a jab but it's blocked by Gibson.
Jones connects with the punch.

Jones moves into the clinch successfully.

Gibson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jasper Jones dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Scott Gibson's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Gibson shoots in but no luck this time.

Jones takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Jones stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Gibson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Gibson.
Jones lands a leg kick that knocks Gibson off balance momentarily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jones thumps Gibson with a low kick.
Gibson shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.
Gibson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away.

Jones fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Scott Gibson's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Jones tries to clinch up but Gibson circles away and keeps his distance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones lands a big head kick that sends Gibson tumbling to the mat! Jones takes a step backwards and waves Gibson back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Jones lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.


Jeez, Scott Gibson's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Scott Gibson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Jasper Jones!
Jasper Jones is the new heavyweight champion!
In his post fight interview, Jasper Jones started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
