The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curran misses with a combination
and Funkyama finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Curran blocks a head kick by Funkyama.
Curran shoots in and drives through. Funkyama sprawls well.

Funkyama looks to land a right hand but Curran moved out of range.
Curran drops his hands momentarily and Funkyama takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Curran misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Curran fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Funkyama jabs Curran right on the nose. Curran blinks but takes it well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Funkyama connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Funkyama lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

It looks like Drake Curran has been cut.

Curran shoots in and drives through. Funkyama sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Drake Curran. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Curran moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Curran wants to clinch.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Curran. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Drake Curran seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Curran ducks under a wild hook from Funkyama.

Curran clinches with his opponent.

Funkyama breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Funkyama wants to land a leg kick but Curran is out of range.
Curran on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Funkyama. Funkyama obviously looking to wear him down.

Curran misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Curran avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

and Funkyama counters with a head kick.
Horrible takedown by Curran or perhaps it was just good defense by Funkyama which made him look bad.
Curran looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Funkyama is fending him off so far but Curran persists. Nope, Funkyama circles away and we're back to standing.

Curran tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Funkyama swivels and escapes.
Funkyama has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Curran.
Curran closes this distance looking for a takedown but Funkyama circles away.
Curran is breathing heavily.
Curran tries to clinch up
and Funkyama makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Funkyama lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Curran wants to clinch but Funkyama slips to the side
and Funkyama counters with a big head kick but Curran shrugs it off.

Curran fails to land the takedown.
A slapping body kick lands there for Funkyama.
Curran shoots in for a takedown but Funkyama shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Funkyama smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Janis Funkyama is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Funkyama drops Curran with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Curran! Funkyama dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
