PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jovica Stojanovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Dodson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stojanovic throws a head kick but Dodson moves out of range.

Dodson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stojanovic to the mat! Stojanovic manages to get full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Stojanovic not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Stojanovic looking for a guillotine here but Dodson defends easily.
Dodson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
It looks like Dodson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Hunter Dodson wasn't active enough on the ground.

and Dodson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Dodson.

Dodson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dodson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stojanovic has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dodson is working away from the top position though.

Dodson escapes and gets back to his feet.
Dodson misses with a kick to the body.

Stojanovic throws the kick towards the body but Dodson avoids it.
Stojanovic changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dodson tries to avoid it but Stojanovic manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dodson to the ground. Dodson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stojanovic is breathing heavily.

Dodson gets a takedown into half guard.
Dodson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Dodson is controlling the pace.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dodson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Dodson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Stojanovic!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stojanovic is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Dodson drops back looking for a leg! Stojanovic is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stojanovic manages to kick Dodson off! Dodson jumps back into Stojanovic's guard.

Hunter Dodson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Dodson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jovica Stojanovic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hunter Dodson.

Stojanovic throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hunter Dodson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dodson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
