Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Hightail (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinnie Funkyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vinnie Funkyama!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Funkyama connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
It looks like Alex Hightail has been cut.
Hightail tries for a takedown but Funkyama sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hightail has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Funkyama.
Funkyama slips a jab and a cross from Hightail.
Funkyama gets caught napping as Hightail dives in and scores a takedown. Funkyama manages to retain guard.
Hightail stopping the sweep attempt from Funkyama.
Hightail drops back looking for a leg! Funkyama is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Funkyama manages to kick Hightail off! Hightail jumps back into Funkyama's guard.
Hightail pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Funkyama is keeping the position for now.

Hightail won't allow Funkyama to sweep him here.
Funkyama can't keep his opponent in guard - Hightail advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hightail slows the pace down in half guard.
Funkyama tries to roll over but Hightail keeps him under control.
Funkyama really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hightail. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hightail landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Hightail seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Funkyama is looking for a sweep. Hightail is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Funkyama wants to control but Hightail is keeping busy.
Hightail stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Alex Hightail seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hightail tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Funkyama counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Hightail misses with a combination
and Funkyama cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

A slapping leg kick lands for Funkyama.
Hightail misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hightail throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Funkyama counters with a big head kick but Hightail shrugs it off.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Funkyama! Hightail is out on his feet! Funkyama rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Hightail is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Hightail is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
