PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Felipe Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simbato Wamasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Santos might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Zica Vai Lá - Emicida. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Simbato Wamasaki!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wamasaki gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Santos throws an elbow that misses.
Santos stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Santos using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Wamasaki has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Santos takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Wamasaki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wamasaki dives in and grabs Santos's left leg, looking for a takedown. Santos pushes down on Wamasaki's head and hops out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Santos just misses with a elbow thrown towards Wamasaki's brow.

Wamasaki shoots in and drives through. Santos sprawls well.

Wamasaki feints and as Santos raises his hands in defense, Wamasaki changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santos keeping moving, preventing Wamasaki from controlling successfully.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Wamasaki jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Santos manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Wamasaki swings around for an armbar but Santos sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Wamasaki's guard.
Wamasaki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Santos gets to his feet. Wamasaki looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Wamasaki tries to work over Santos's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Santos lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Simbato Wamasaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Simbato Wamasaki is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Felipe Santos.
I think Wamasaki has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
