PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Cromptom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Poddubny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Poddubny has chosen Champion Of The Champions as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ivan Poddubny!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Dean Styles and Bruno Lombardi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cromptom fails with the takedown.

Cromptom shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Poddubny napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Poddubny regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Poddubny manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Poddubny tries to clinch there but Cromptom circles away.
A jab from Poddubny does it's job there.

It looks like Josh Cromptom has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cromptom fails to land the takedown.

Cromptom shoots in and gets a takedown into Poddubny's guard.
Cromptom has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Poddubny has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cromptom can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Poddubny has his foot on Cromptom's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cromptom works his way back into a safe position though.

Poddubny manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cromptom manages to get himself to full guard.

Cromptom will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cromptom is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Poddubny is aware though and is defending well.

Poddubny stands up over Cromptom, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Poddubny is in close to Cromptom's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Cromptom shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Poddubny as he jumps to the side.

Poddubny shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cromptom manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Cromptom is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Poddubny is controlling him.
Poddubny stands up over Cromptom, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Poddubny is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Poddubny takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Cromptom trying to control from the bottom.
Cromptom has hold of Poddubny's hands but Poddubny slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Poddubny is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Cromptom is rocked!
Cromptom is trying to stand back up but Poddubny is controlling him
Oh Cromptom is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Poddubny looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cromptom with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Poddubny lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Cromptom! More strikes land and this one is all over! Poddubny jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

A less than humble Ivan Poddubny misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
