Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between PJ Sparxx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Botello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Botello's choice of entrance music: Candlekeep. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, PJ Sparxx!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Botello!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sparxx throws a left and a right that both miss
and Botello counters with a two punch combo.
A low kick from Sparxx misses
and Botello counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Botello takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Botello closes the distance and clinches up with Sparxx, looking for a takedown. Botello pushes Sparxx against the cage but Sparxx circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Botello lands a head shot.
Botello takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Sparxx tries for a takedown but Botello sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Botello misses with a two punch combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sparxx scores with a jab to the head.
Sparxx stuns Botello with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Sparxx lands a lovely overhand right.
PJ Sparxx seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Botello walks into a straight right hand from Sparxx.
Botello misses the jab.
Sparxx fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Sparxx doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Botello counters with a series of strikes. Sparxx will be more careful next time no doubt.
Sparxx throws a sloppy head kick and Botello moves out of range easily.

and Botello counters with a takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This has been an exciting period of action!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Sparxx is letting Botello control him for a moment.
Sparxx is pushing Botello's head away, looking to escape. Botello manages to hold on to the position though.

Botello stands up and beckons Sparxx to his feet.
Sparxx shoots for a takedown but Botello saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for PJ Sparxx. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sparxx throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Botello shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sparxx's guard.
Sparxx will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Botello is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Botello stops Sparxx from standing up.
Botello keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sparxx's head.

Botello is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Sparxx is wriggling around but Botello manages to pass to half guard.
Sparxx wants to stand back up but Botello manages to pass into side control.
Sloppy strikes there by Botello.
Botello is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sparxx will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Sparxx is pushing Botello's head away, looking to escape. Botello manages to hold on to the position though.

Botello has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Sparxx fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Botello tries a head kick but it misses.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sparxx rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Botello moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sloppy strikes from Botello. Those never looked like landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Botello circles away from the clinch attempt
and Botello makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Sparxx throws a head kick but Botello moves out of range.
Botello looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Sparxx rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Botello counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Sparxx is lucky that one didn't land flush.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sparxx throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Botello counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Sparxx thinking.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sparxx throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Botello counters with an outside leg kick.
Sparxx throws a left and a right that both miss
and Botello counters with a head kick. That will keep Sparxx thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Botello drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Botello's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Botello duly obliges.

and Botello counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Sparxx!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sparxx throws a head kick but Botello moves out of range.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Sparxx just misses with a punch to the body.
Botello keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sparxx is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Botello shoots in for a takedown but Sparxx shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Sparxx throws a nice looking combination but Botello bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

John Botello showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sparxx is trying to escape back to his feet but Botello uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Sparxx is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Botello has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Botello has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Sparxx!
Botello is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sparxx can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

John Botello comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Botello has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
