PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Flight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker has chosen The Doors - Peace Frog as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Thomas Flight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack Walker!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flight throws a right hand that Walker ducks under and follows up with a left that Walker also avoids with ease.
Flight fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Walker has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A head kick misses from Flight.
Walker shoots in but no luck this time.
Walker dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Walker on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Flight misses the jab.
Walker throws a combination. Flight tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Flight throws an off balance right hand
enabling Walker to counter with a crisp jab.
Walker finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A bone on bone clash there as Flight blocks the leg kick.
Walker looks to land a left hand but Flight moved out of range nicely.

Flight throws a push kick but Walker slaps the foot to one side.
Flight lands an overhand right.
Flight scores with a spinning back kick!
Flight misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Flight finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Walker lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Flight circles away quickly and effectively.

Walker throws a hook to the side of Flight's head but Flight sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Flight has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Walker finds it's way round the side to connect with Flight's head.
Flight tries to land a front kick but Walker steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Walker closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Walker is looking to take a break and control but Flight is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Flight has his hands clasped together around Walker's back. He's all about the action.
Flight looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Flight rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Walker moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Thomas Flight seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Flight throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Walker thuds his right hand into Flight's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Flight ducks right into an uppercut from Walker.

Walker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Flight's waist but Flight gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Walker off to one side.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walker is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Flight has escaped the position, nice work there.

Jack Walker has got the better of the ground game so far.

Flight manages to work his way to half guard, despite Walker's best efforts.

Flight is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Walker's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Walker's back!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Flight has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Walker tries to escape but Flight has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Thomas Flight.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Flight, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
