Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Shoichi Kosugi !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Big Oh!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oh shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Kosugi is trying desperately to improve position.

Kosugi bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Oh has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Oh misses with a jab, cross combination.

Oh bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kosugi tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Kosugi has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Oh escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Oh!

Oh wants to control but Kosugi is keeping him busy.
Kosugi tries to buck Oh off but Oh is having none of it.
Kosugi is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Oh asserts his dominance and retains side control.
A lull in the action here as Oh stalls from top position.
Kosugi is trying to get back to half guard.

Oh doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Kosugi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

That was a close second round but I would say that Shoichi Kosugi will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


No luck with that takedown attempt from Oh.

Oh moves into the clinch successfully.

Kosugi turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kosugi manages to end up in side control.
Kosugi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Oh keeps working.

Kosugi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kosugi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kosugi working the ground and pound but Oh is defending the strikes.

Kosugi decides to stand up, so the ref orders Oh to his feet.
Oh closes the distance and clinches up with Kosugi , looking for a takedown. Oh pushes Kosugi against the cage but Kosugi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Oh is looking to clinch but Kosugi is avoiding it.
Oh doesn't manage to clinch there - Kosugi circles away.
Oh looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Shoichi Kosugi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Oh.

Shoichi Kosugi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kosugi has knee on belly momentarily but Oh bucks him off and regains half guard.

Oh is staying active underneath Kosugi , who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Kosugi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Oh looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Oh sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Kosugi is trying to control. Oh wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are battling for position here. Oh manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kosugi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Oh works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Shoichi Kosugi showed his dominance in that final round.
