PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marty Laguna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Costa has chosen His Own Highlight Video as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Felipe Costa was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marty Laguna!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Felipe Costa!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laguna steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Costa. That one must have hurt.
Costa gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Laguna misses with a looping left.
Laguna swings for the body but Costa moves out of range.
Laguna blocks a leg kick.
Costa throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Costa finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Laguna avoids the head kick by Costa.
Costa connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Costa uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Laguna.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Laguna feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Costas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Costa tries to bum rush Laguna with a series of wild strikes but Laguna uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Costa falls off balance throwing a combination
and Laguna counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Costa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Laguna did well to prevent Costa getting side control.

Costa looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Laguna is looking for a sweep. Costa is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Costa is working for a kimura but Laguna is defending it quite comfortably.

Costa looking for a submission but Laguna manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Laguna lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Costa!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Laguna has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That was a close round but I would say that Marty Laguna will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Laguna counters with a series of strikes. Costa will be more careful next time no doubt.

Costa takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Nice takedown defense from Laguna. No joy for Costa on that attempt.

and Laguna counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Laguna is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Costa keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Laguna.

and Laguna counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Costa shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Laguna will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Costa throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Laguna stuns Costa with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Costa keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Costa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Costa has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Felipe Costa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Marty Laguna showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Laguna has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
