Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Jorge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by Trik Turner - Friends and Family. Jorge comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Back in black kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! James Jorge is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Freddy Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Jorge!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jorge goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Jorge closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Alves's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jorge is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Alves looking for a sweep. Not yet Alves, not yet.
Jorge is fighting to break Alves's control of his arms but Alves is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

OK we're going to have a standup here. James Jorge hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Alves scores with a jab to the head.


It looks like James Jorge has been cut.
Alves lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Alves.

Alves rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jorge moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jorge shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alves as he avoids it easily.

Jorge lands with a hook. Alves tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Jorge.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Alves wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Jorge ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Jorge closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Jorge throws a series of punches but Alves moves out of range.
Alves takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Alves thuds his right hand into Jorge's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Jorge takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.


Jorge is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Alves tries to bum rush Jorge with a series of wild strikes but Jorge uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jorge is still on wobbly legs! Can Alves finish him?
Jorge dives in and grabs Alves's left leg, looking for a takedown. Alves pushes down on Jorge's head and hops out.
A combination from Alves does no damage.
Alves tries to move into range but Jorge moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Jorge seems to have recovered his senses.
A slow jab from Jorge misses its intended target.
Jorge changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Alves tries to avoid it but Jorge manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Alves to the ground. Alves escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
James Jorge seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Alves rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Jorge counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Alves thinking.
Alves has a takedown stuffed.
Alves lands an overhand right.
Jorge on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Alves misses with a wild combination.
Jorge throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Alves on the side of the head.
Freddy Alves is winning the standup battle so far.
Jorge lands a nice hook to Alves's body. Alves takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Jorge scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Alves looks to land a right hand but Jorge moved out of range.
Jorge moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alves throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jorge.

Jorge postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Alves looks a forlorn figure.
Jorge lands a big elbow.

Jorge has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Alves is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

BOOM! Jorge connects with a massive shot to the dome!


Alves is rocked!
A big strike lands for Jorge! That's really hurt Alves and he's turned his back - Jorge keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Jorge jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Jorge!
