PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sven Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Yackey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yackey is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ante Up. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sven Knight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jimmy Yackey!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knight is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Yackey.
Knight swings away with a body shot that misses
and Yackey counters with a head kick. That will keep Knight thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Yackey fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Knight, pushing him back against the ropes.
Knight tries for a takedown but Yackey manages to get underhooks.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Yackey turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Yackey manages to end up in side control.

Yackey is trying to control the action in half guard but Knight is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Yackey thows a huge punch but Knight dodges it nicely.
Knight has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Yackey is working away from the top position though.

We're going to have a standup here because Sven Knight wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Knight shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Yackey defends it nicely.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Yackey lets loose with a powerful body kick. Knight will feel that in the morning.

It looks like Sven Knight has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Yackey displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Knight.

Yackey breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Knight is trying hard to land a takedown here. Yackey sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Knight fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sven Knight. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Yackey feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Yackey postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Knight is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Yackey, into his guard.

Knight got a little sloppy there for a moment and Yackey has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Knight has managed to get both his arms back between Yackey's legs - danger averted.

and Yackey counters with a nice low kick that buckles Knight's knee momentarily.

Yackey lands a big head kick that sends Knight tumbling to the mat! Yackey takes a step backwards and waves Knight back to his feet - he wants the finish!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Well Yackey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
