Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 18 - 1, fighting out of London, Matthew Cannon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Backman!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Backman misses the jab.
Cannon uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Backman.
Cannon uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Backman.
Backman looks to score with a jab to the body but Cannon is just out of range.
Backman throws a right hand that misses
and Cannon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Ben Backman has been cut.
Cannon misses with a double jab
and Backman counters with a straight right hand.
Cannon walks into a stiff left hand from Backman.
Backman has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Cannon finds it's way round the side to connect with Backman's head.
Backman connects with a body shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Backman throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Backman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cannon moves away.
Backman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cannon sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Cannon misses with a straight right.
Ben Backman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Backman throws a right hand that Cannon ducks under and follows up with a left that Cannon also avoids with ease.
Backman misses with a double jab.
Backman throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Cannon counters with a nice uppercut.
Backman slips a straight right by Cannon.
Backman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cannon rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Backman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Backman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Cannon swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Backman swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cannon counters with a straight right hand.
A shot to the liver by Backman. Beautiful body shot.
Backman gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Backman blocks a jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice jab there from Cannon.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Backman swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Backman. Those never looked like landing.
Cannon fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cannon throws a right hand that Backman ducks under and follows up with a left that Backman also avoids with ease.
Cannon swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Backman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Backman throws a right hand that misses
and Cannon counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Backman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Backman ducks under a wild hook from Cannon.
Backman gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Cannon.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Backman uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cannon.
Cannon missing with a left hand there. Backman was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Backman misses with a jab to the body
and Cannon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Backman takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
A slow jab from Backman misses its intended target.
Backman misses with a right hand
and Cannon connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cannon misses with a looping right.
Cannon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Backman manages to avoid it.
Cannon is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cannon. Backman does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cannon fails to land with a series of punches.
Backman slips under a jab.
Backman throws a wild hook but Cannon just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Backman gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Cannon raises his hands in celebration and walks away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matthew Cannon!
Matthew Cannon really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that XTREME PWNAGE: Down Under! logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
