The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reyes fails with the takedown
and Johnson counters with a big head kick but Reyes shrugs it off.
Reyes shoots in looking for a takedown but Johnson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Reyes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Reyes walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Johnson sizes up Reyes with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Johnson lands a two punch combo.

It looks like Manuel Reyes has been cut.

Johnson sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Reyes to the ground! Johnson dives into full mount looking to finish!
Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Reyes keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Johnson connects with a nice short shot to Reyes's temple.

Reyes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Reyes moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reyes pushes a forearm under Johnson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Johnson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
