PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Deejay Vendetta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reggie Warren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vendetta comes to the cage accompanied by Soilwork - Nerve. Warren has chosen God's gonna cut you down by Jonny Cash as his entrance music. Reggie Warren has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Deejay Vendetta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reggie Warren!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jorge Garcia and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warren fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Warren swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Vendetta throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Vendetta tries to clinch there but Warren circles away.
Warren moves out of range of the strikes.
Good leg kick by Warren there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Warren circles away from the clinch attempt.
A head kick misses from Vendetta.
Vendetta thuds his right hand into Warren's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Warren shoots in but no luck this time.
Warren throws a leg kick that misses.

Warren throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Vendetta was covering up waiting for the punch and Warren finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Warren stops Vendetta from standing up.
Vendetta is trying to keep Warren in close.
Warren trying to control but Vendetta is working from the bottom.

Vendetta looking to hit a scissor sweep but Warren is one step ahead there.

Warren got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vendetta has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Warren has managed to get both his arms back between Vendetta's legs - danger averted.
Warren throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Warren with a flurry of punches that miss.
Vendetta throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Vendetta looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Warren passes into side control.
Warren wants to control but Vendetta is keeping him busy.

Warren working the ground and pound but Vendetta is defending the strikes.
Vendetta is letting Warren control him for a moment.
Vendetta wants to control but Warren postures up.
Warren has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Vendetta tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Warren wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Vendetta's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Warren takes a little break here. Vendetta wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Warren in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Warren is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Vendetta has escaped the position, nice work there.
Vendetta is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Warren grinds an elbow into Vendetta's temple.
Warren creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Warren in side control lands a decent elbow.
Vendetta is looking for a sweep.

Vendetta can't do much from the bottom here.

Vendetta throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Warren throws a jab when Vendetta was well out of range.
Vendetta takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Warren throws out a leg kick but Vendetta moves out of range and Warren only half commits.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Vendetta enables Warren to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Vendetta manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Vendetta looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Warren has picked Vendetta up and slammed him! Vendetta can't keep hold of the triangle and Warren manages to pass to side control!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Warren working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Warren cracks Vendetta with a big elbow.
Vendetta is looking to regain half guard here but Warren keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reggie Warren dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Warren blocks a jab.
Warren tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Vendetta is able to avoid easily.
Warren is looking to land body kicks.
Vendetta tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Vendetta gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Warren.
Vendetta keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Nice sprawl there from Vendetta as Warren shoots in.
Warren keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Vendetta lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Warren shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Vendetta is trying to defend but Warren finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Warren is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Vendetta doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Warren.

Reggie Warren showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Vendetta's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

and Warren counters with a shoot takedown. Vendetta fights it but they end up in guard.

Warren makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Warren looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Warren stands up over Vendetta, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Warren is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Warren stands and throws Vendetta's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Warren wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vendetta keeps working.
Vendetta is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Warren has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The referee asks Warren politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Warren prefers to stall for the moment though.
Deejay Vendetta has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Vendetta is looking for a sweep.
Vendetta manages to get back to half guard.
Warren perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Reggie Warren hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
That kick from Warren tenderised Vendetta's leg. Vendetta is trying to keep his angry face on.

Vendetta misses with a looping right.
Warren lands a jab.
Vendetta misses with a straight left.
Vendetta steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Warren.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Warren, right into the meat.
Warren fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Vendetta on the side of the head.
Warren scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Warren fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Vendetta to the ground. Warren is now in Vendetta's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Warren wants to control from the top but Vendetta keeps moving.
Warren postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vendetta wants to sweep here but Warren controlling him for the moment.
Warren lands a couple of digs.

And that's the end of the fight!
Reggie Warren comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Warren has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
