Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mykka Hoivunen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and KC Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cooper is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Renegade by Jay-Z & Eminem. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, KC Cooper!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Hoivunen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cooper scores with a jab. Hoivunen acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Cooper lands with a nice body punch.
Hoivunen misses with a wild combination.

Hoivunen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Hoivunen postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cooper is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hoivunen, into his guard.

Cooper is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hoivunen is just riding it out for now. Cooper eventually gives up the hold.

Cooper had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hoivunen defends it easily.

Hoivunen throws an elbow that misses. Cooper uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hoivunen's guard. Nice move by Cooper!

Hoivunen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cooper's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Mykka Hoivunen will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Hoivunen throws a nice looking combination but Cooper bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Cooper fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Cooper lands with a hook. Hoivunen tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Cooper. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Cooper lands a really nice looking cross but Hoivunen seems unphased.

Hoivunen throws a sloppy head kick and Cooper moves out of range easily.

and Cooper counters with a three punch combo that has Hoivunen backing up. Hoivunen nods at Cooper to acknowledge the strikes.


It looks like Mykka Hoivunen has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cooper scores with a hook to the body. Hoivunen takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Hoivunen looks to land a combination but Cooper avoids it well.

Hoivunen is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Hoivunen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cooper's guard.
Hoivunen misses with a head shot. Cooper uses the momentum to regain guard.
Hoivunen wants to control from the top but Cooper keeps moving.
Cooper controls Hoivunen momentarily but Hoivunen frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hoivunen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cooper swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cooper has momentary wrist control but Hoivunen slips an elbow through the middle.

Hoivunen is in close to Cooper's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hoivunen throws a strike but Cooper rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hoivunen is on top in guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

KC Cooper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Hoivunen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hoivunen showed some decent athleticism there.

Hoivunen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cooper doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hoivunen.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hoivunen connects with a nice short shot to Cooper's temple.

Cooper has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hoivunen is working away from the top position though.
Mykka Hoivunen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hoivunen wants to take a breather but Cooper is having none of it.

Mykka Hoivunen showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hoivunen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
