The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ponting sprawls well. Ponting wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Day gets slowly back to his feet.
Day on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Ponting closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Ricky Ponting seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ponting catches Day with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Day isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ponting stacks Day on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ponting!

Ponting is controlling an arm, preventing Day from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Day has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Ponting has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Ponting covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Ponting manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Ponting has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
