Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jonny Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Russ Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Wilson's head and hops out.
Jones lands a jab to Wilson's midsection.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Wilson pushes him off.
Jones is looking to clinch.
Wilson has a takedown stuffed.
Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wilson circles away quickly and effectively.
Wilson shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well.
Jonny Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Russ Wilson.
Jones is looking to clinch.
Wilson loads up on a big right hand but Jones slips the punch.
Jones just misses with a punch to the body.
Wilson keeps the fight on the outside.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Wilson.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jones tries to bench press Wilson off him but Wilson keeps the position.
Wilson landing strikes.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones is trying to improve his position.

Wilson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jones knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Wilson cracks Jones with a big right hand but Jones just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Wilson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jones is trying to get back to half guard.
Wilson fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Wilson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.

Wilson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jones, who protects the arm well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wilson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wilson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Wilson slows the pace down.
Wilson is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jones tries to bench press Wilson off him but Wilson keeps the position.
Wilson gets to mount! Jones was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wilson scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Wilson with the ground and pound from mount.
Wilson with shots to the head and body - Jones looks very uncomfortable down there.
Wilson landing punches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wilson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Wilson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones tries to hold on but Wilson pushes him away.
Wilson breaks from Jones's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Oh Jones is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wilson looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Jones covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Russ Wilson!
