PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Byron Mondella (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Veter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Byron Mondella has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Byron Mondella seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Byron Mondella!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ed Veter!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Mondella as Veter shoots in.

Mondella feints and as Veter raises his hands in defense, Mondella changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Mondella looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Veter is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Mondella stays in close to Veter's body and controls the position.

Veter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Mondella closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mondella takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Veter is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mondella pulls his head out easily.

Veter is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mondella scores with a couple of nice shots.
Mondella looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Mondella manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Veter on his heels. He'll look to pass Veter's guard now, I'm sure.
Mondella controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Mondella has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Mondella shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Veter throws a right hand that Mondella ducks under and follows up with a left that Mondella also avoids with ease.
Ed Veter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mondella shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Well Mondella has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
